Yesterday I decided to take a drive to Sviba belvedere, located 753 meters above the sea level, named after a mountain peak nearby. Somehow I've missed the belvedere, and continued my drive to the mountain top. After few hundred meters, I spotted this beautiful horse herd. I stopped my car, took only my camera (with 10-22mm with a polarizer attached), any slowly came out of the car. I took the first few photos, without any of the horses noticing. Shortly after that the biggest brown one started to stare at me. I don't much about horses, but I guess he was something like a "leader of the pack".

Moments after, a big truck from the quarry nearby came behind me so I had to move the car, but honestly I didn't want to disturb them anyway. Such beautiful creatures.

If you look closely, You'll notice that a few of them are laying down. Horses will lay down only if they feel safe. Since horses are prey animals laying down obviously puts them at a greater risk to predators. So, if a horse is comfortable and safe and wants to relax, it will lie down.

And really, this was one of the most relaxing places I've ever been to. The mountain peak is situated at the meeting point of the Mediterranean and continental climate, in the vegetational zone of bay oak and hop horn-beam forests. The beautiful mountain meadows with unobstructed beautiful views of mountainous hinterland, inshore settlements, the Bay of Kvarner, Velebit and Učka mountains.
